Terms & Conditions

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and our extended terms, customers have the right to cancel a purchase within 7 calendar days of receiving goods.

The limitations to these terms are that we do not accept cancellations for discontinued or bespoke products.

This includes products that need to be ordered in especially, cut to measure, or for products that are designed to your specifications.

Returns must be communicated to us within 7 days of receipt of goods. This must be done via email to sales@oatesflooringsolutions.co.uk

Costs to return are the full responsibility of the customer, all items must be returned in the same packaging and condition in which they were received by you.

The limitations to these terms are that we do not accept returns for discontinued or bespoke products.

This includes products that need to be ordered in especially, cut to measure, or for products that are designed to your specifications.

Items should be in a condition suitable for resale.  Oates Flooring & Blinds reserves the right to issue a partial refund if the returned goods are found to be damaged.

In the unlikely event that you receive faulty or damaged goods, please contact us prior to cutting and/or fitting the item(s) and we will arrange for the faulty or damaged goods to be collected and replaced.

Unfortunately if any ordered item is removed from it's original condition (for example cut and fitted) we will be unable to replace or give a full refund for the item(s).

Goods are sold by Oates Contracting Services Ltd on the terms contained in the Sale of Goods Act 1979 except as expressly varied by these terms.

If any Contract is cancelled by the Customer prior to delivery, the Customer will be liable to pay Oates Contracting Services Ltd 20%-30% of the price of the Goods to cover expenses incurred and this will be deducted from any deposit or advance payment paid by the Customer. The Contract cannot be cancelled by the Customer after delivery.

Oates Contracting Services Ltd may cancel the Contract at any time before it notifies the Customer that the Goods are ready for delivery/collection if it is unable to fulfil the Contact due to any cause beyond its control.
In this event, the Company’s only liability is to refund any deposit or advance paid by the Customer.

Oates Contracting Services Ltd acts as an agent for local independent self-employed floor covering installers and arrange for one of these to deliver and/or fit your purchase under a separate agreement between you and the Installer. Oates Contracting Services Ltd retains full responsibility for its products, the Installer is responsible for the standard and quality of the work and any liability arising from the installation. When purchasing directly in store, the fitting charge will be payable direct to the Installer on completion of the work to ensure satisfactory fitting. Rooms should be clear of furniture and of old carpets, unless agreed by prior arrangements and service paid for.
By continuing with your purchase you confirm your acceptance of this agreement and, if/as required, will make payment direct to the Installer as shown on your invoice.

Product Warranties

Oates Flooring & Blinds warrants that with the proper care and maintenance, the pile of your carpet during the specified product wear warranty time period (specified on the product page) will not wear by more than 10% by weight from normal foot traffic. This warranty covers only abrasive wear resulting in the loss of fibre.

Wear is defined as:

Abrasive fibre loss and not changes in appearance.

This warranty does not cover general deterioration due to wear and tear (such as shading or crushed fibres) or damage from:

tearspulls, cuts, pilling, shedding, matting, crushing, burns, pets, improper cleaning, improper installation or defective construction.

Within the wear warranty period, Oates Flooring & Blinds guarantees against any hidden defect that may adversely affect the life of the product.

The vinyl must be protected against the risk of piercing caused by furniture or objects with pointed legs, feet or sharp edges. The use of plastic or felt protection devices is recommended.

The wear warranty does not cover any stain damage due to the application of chemicals or the use of cleaning methods that are not recommended in our vinyl cleaning guide or where there is evidence of heavy soiling, abuse or neglect.

The vinyl wear warranty excludes: damage due to abnormal use, damage due to the use of the floor in an outside/external location, the absence of standard protection methods for the floor covering (eg. doormats, sealed access doors etc.) where necessary, damage resulting from poor fitting or poor preparation of the underlying surface or damage caused by sharp or slicing material.

General Warranty Information

To ensure that your warranty remains valid, it is important that:

Any spillages receive immediate attention using clean water and a recommended cleaner

Regular care and routine maintenance is carried out using good quality products and machinery

Hot water extraction either alone or in combination with cleaning by a professional carpet cleaning is carried out every 24 months

You keep receipts of proof for the purchase of any professional carpet cleaning

Your carpet is fitted in a suitable area and on a solid floor (adhering to British Standards 5325)

Product Information

All dimensions are in accordance with British Standards 3655 (1974) +/- 1.25% in width and/or length.

All pile carpets, especially plain grounds are liable (after they have been in use for some time) to shading, i.e. to show light and dark patched areas.

This is due to uneven pressing of the surface by treading. Light and delicately shaded carpets are liable to become soiled with wear and it may appear that the colours have faded.

Both tendencies are inherent in all pile fabrics and therefore we cannot accept any responsibility for complaints arising from either of these causes.

The minimum order quantity for sheet material (i.e. carpet, matting & sheet vinyl) is 1.5 linear meters
